Law Offices of Hirji & Chau, LLP is law firm based in Culver City that focuses on special education, civil and disability rights of children and disabled adults. Our practice encompasses all levels of advocacy and litigation in administrative, state and federal courts, and is staffed by reputable attorneys who work collaboratively to provide holistic services.
We are looking for a dynamic individual who is experienced with special education law and disability rights litigation for a full time litigation attorney position.

Responsibilities

· Represent students with disabilities at all stages of due process including, but not limited to: drafting due process complaints, attend resolution sessions, mediation, and prepare for and prosecute administrative hearings;

· Represent children with disabilities in civil litigation in state and federal court, including, but not limited to: investigating complaints, drafting and filing complaints in state and federal court, drafting and arguing motions, conducting discovery, and assisting with trials;

· Advocate for children with disabilities at IEP meetings with school districts and regional center meetings, provide counsel and guidance to families;

· Represent students with disabilities in higher education matters;

· Lead/staff monthly free special education clinic based in Compton, CA;

· Participate in marketing activities.

Requirements

· Admittance to the State Bar of California

· 3+ years’ experience with state and federal litigation

· Proficient understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act

· Excellent research and writing skills, with a strong academic background

· Strong interpersonal communication and client counsel skills

· Demonstrated ability to work positively and cooperatively with other team members

· Ability to work long hours & weekends, as needed, to meet deadlines

· Spanish speaking a plus
